DTLib - Data Translation Library

We sell translator products developed specifically to utilize our modeling kernel. Our customers tell us that we make some of the best translation products available anywhere. The IGES and STEP translators import data from many different CAD systems extremely well. The Translators are available as separate add on products. The following file formats are supported:

  • IGES - Initial Graphics Exchange Specification
  • STEP- ISO Standard Format Geometry/Topology/Assemblies
  • Rhino - *.3dm - openNURBS (Robert McNeel and Assoc. TM)
  • SAT - ACIS Geometry Kernel Data File (Spatial TM)
  • VDAFS - German Neutral File Format
  • Parasolids XT - file format by Unigraphics Parasolids
  • SolidWorks - Solid Works Native File formats
  • CATIA V4 and CATIA V5 - via. Datakit Library
  • Unigraphics - via. Datakit LIbrary
  • ProEngineer - via. Datakit Library
  • SLA - StereoLithography polygon file format (included with base package)
  • OBJ - Wavefront OBJ polygon file format (included with base package)

All of the translators utilize IntegrityWare geometry and topology tools to clean up many of the anomalies found in different CAD systems. The translators utilize geometry measurement tools to measure gaps and set appropriate tolerances for edges and vertices. The IntegrityWare topological objects (Edges, Faces, Vertices) utilize an unique adaptive tolerancing scheme to adapt to the accuracy of the incoming data. Therefore, no "Healing" is required to deal effectively with imported data. Healing is dangerous because it modifies the surface geometry and in fact may change the continuity and smoothness of the underlying surface. Because the IntegrityWare tolerancing scheme is so comprehensive, there is also no need to "Scale" the objects into a specified domain. The underlying algorithms work well with small objects (1.0e-5) and large objects (1.0e10).

Benefits

  • Clean up anomalies found in different CAD systems

  • Measure gaps and set appropriate tolerances

  • Adaptive Tolerancing on Faces, Edges and Vertices

  • No "Healing" required to work with imported data

  • Adapts to support both Very Large and Very Small Objects
